Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.
Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh."
Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.
There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln."

Remember that this so called "socialism" was initiated by President Bush. His bank bailouts were done in order to try & stimulate the economy. This poorly thought out plan didn't even require the banks to account for their usage of the billions given to them. I believe that if he were still in office, he would continue to ask for some of the same initiatives that President Obama is asking for. The economic problems we are facing is in many ways unprecedented & would demand even a republican president to think out of his conservative box. There are many ways to try & stimulate the economy; they may include tax breaks, employment initiatives, etc.... No president in his right mind would do nothing.
Conservative Christian, abortion etc.
I may be a very conservative christian but that does not necessarily translate into a party affiliation. Funny how conservatives try to muddy the waters(guilt tripping) by implying that christians should only champion the conservative causes. They hold up abortion as the litmus test by wondering: how can a devoted christian be for the 'killing of babies'. So if you are 'pro-choice' in moral issues such as abortion then you are labeled as a baby killing amoral liberal. Hypocrites forget that we all make choices on a daily basis that flies in the face of the God we serve.
With the gift of choice, God knew some would abuse it for evil & some would use it to choose good; nevertheless he suffered us to have that choice. The worst danger for us christians is to be on the slippery slope of morality legislation..for in so doing we may just legislate our own demise. We should stand for what is right...but we should do so in the spiritual realm..not the political realm. Remember that the battle is not against flesh & blood.......
Star Parker & those who rose from the ashes

"It's not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama's invitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal responsibility and freedom. Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?"

Here we go with the conservative absolutes used to guilt trip you onto the conservative side. Star Parker does this well.
Per Star Parker, if you are a liberal, then you are a 'socialist' & choose to 'move onto the plantation' and be taken care of by the government or 'massah'. If you are conservative, then of course you choose 'personal responsibility and freedom'.
Just to show you it's not black and white: it was through the so called 'socialist' government programs that Star Parker and many more poor Americans like her are able to get from underneath the yoke of poverty and eventually choose 'personal responsibility and freedom'.
Not everyone on welfare are lazy Americans who fiend on government assistance. Many dread being seen at the grocery store with food stamps or welfare checks. Many rejoice and thank God to see the day where they don't rely on the government. In the same token many conservative republican workers have lost their jobs in this grave economy and have thanked God for the government assistance that's theirs through unemployment checks & other government assistance.
Now that she's made it, Star writes that those same 'government welfare socialism programs have 'created monstrous moral and spiritual problems'.
Like any drug, some people become addicted to it with overuse and some use it as a temporary panacea. Does that mean we should ban all drugs? God forbid!
